This exquisite musical box is a beautiful keepsake gift to be cherished and passed down through generations. It is part of a limited edition of just 50 pieces, meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans in the heart of the Staffordshire potteries in Stoke-on-Trent. Produced by Royal Warrant Holder Halcyon Days, each box is uniquely hand-decorated with enamel paints.
The design, known as the Sanctuary Window, was created by John Napper to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen. It was a gift from the Twelve Great Livery Companies of the City of London. The inspiration for this piece came from the magnificent stained-glass window in The Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace, which was erected in 2002 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II. The design depicts a stunning tree adorned with plaques representing the many Commonwealth nations affiliated with the Queen. Surrounding the tree are the four Gospel writers: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. This intertwining of branches against a sunny yellow background symbolizes new life and rebirth, echoing the themes of the Christian festival.
When opened, this music box plays "Ave Maria," one of Franz Peter Schubert's most beloved compositions. In a letter to his father, Schubert expressed that "Ave Maria" had the power to captivate listeners, engaging them thoroughly with its melody—a testament to its brilliant and ingenious composition.
